🌟 Why I Chose to Pursue Digital Marketing: My Journey from Chalkboards to Campaigns
“Sometimes, the detour leads you right where you were meant to be.”
For three years, I stood in front of a classroom as a schoolteacher. With a B.A. and B.Ed in hand, I dedicated myself to nurturing young minds and guiding them through lessons and life. I enjoyed teaching—there’s a unique joy in watching a student grasp something new. But over time, I began to realize that while I loved the act of teaching, it wasn’t where my true passion lay. Opportunities were limited, especially in government schools, and the salary barely supported my personal or professional dreams. I wanted something more—a career where I could grow, explore, and feel fulfilled.
Then came a pivotal moment: my pregnancy. I decided to take a year-long career break to embrace motherhood and focus on my growing family. It was during this pause, in the quiet space between diaper changes and daydreams, that I stumbled upon something completely unexpected—digital marketing. A casual conversation with my cousin, who was already working in the field, sparked my curiosity. The blend of creativity, strategy, and growth in digital marketing instantly intrigued me. I started researching, exploring courses, and before I knew it, I had enrolled and was diving headfirst into a whole new world.
“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” – Oprah Winfrey
What began as curiosity quickly became something I looked forward to every day. From SEO and content writing to social media strategy and branding—I was hooked. This field was dynamic, full of fresh ideas and endless possibilities. Most importantly, I felt a connection. I was finally doing something that didn’t feel like a compromise. It was creative, flexible, and full of potential—not only to secure a financially stable job but also to eventually build something of my own. I began to dream again—bigger this time. My ultimate goal? To open my own digital marketing agency and help businesses shine online.
Parenthood changed me in many ways—it gave me strength, patience, and clarity. But it also gave me a chance to reset my career path and rediscover myself. I no longer feel stuck or uncertain. Instead, I feel excited and empowered. Digital marketing gave me the space to learn, express, and grow on my own terms. It reminded me that change isn’t something to fear—it’s something to embrace. Especially when it leads you toward purpose.
